Context & Method
A critical and speculative design project exploring what it would mean for AI to help people seem more socially confident in face-to-face conversations. Literature reviews, semi-structured interviews, and iterative prototyping with two rounds of user testing were used to develop and evaluate the concept.
Solution & Results
The final concept was a pair of AI-powered AR glasses that deliver real-time coaching during conversations. The glasses were also paired with a mobile app for customisation. User testing drove several design improvements around navigation in both the glasses and app. Beyond usability, the project raised deeper ethical questions around authenticity, consent, and dependency. We concluded that vulnerability and imperfection are valuable parts of human connection that risk being erased by social AI.
